Real beauty bottles

Dove released six limited edition body wash bottles to show body diversity. “Real beauty bottles” were meant to celebrate bodies of all shapes and sizes. These bottles are shaped from short to tall, curvy to slender. Dove created the self-esteem project to help young people raise their self-esteem. Many of us women feel pressure through social media that we must look a certain way.    

Dove created a beauty cleansing bar in 1957 in the US.  Today the brand Dove is dermatologist recommended and one of the world's most beloved brands. Dove did not change the white colored bottles. The color white represents cleanliness, softness, and fresh. The moisturizing cream body wash inside the bottle is also the same from their other regular shaped bottles. Dove's body wash claims that you will have "softer, smoother skin after one shower." 

My feelings towards this advertisement are divided.  Myself like most women don't want to be reminded about our body shapes. On the other hand, I will not let a bottle represent who I am besides I have arms and legs.  Dove has received backlash and has become a twitter meme.  I care about what is inside the bottle, a body wash that cleans and moisturize. I like Dove brand product so I will continue to purchase Dove brand products.

Pop Culture Reality TV

Reality TV is television programming in which there are no writers, actors or scripts. Reality Tv is ordinary Individuals who have their live played out in front of a camera. Reality show are produced for entertainment. “The question of whether reality TV is pop Culture’s greatest boon or worst nightmare is a bit of a false choice: It’s actually both.” (www.nytimes.com). Many reality tv shows convey information such as weight lost, health and fitness.

            Forbes America’s highest-paid Reality star in 2016 include Bethany Frankel from The Real Housewives of New York City, Kourtney, Khloe and Kim Kardashian. Reality TV shows can be about anything from Keeping up to the Kardashians, 16 and pregnant and even competition shows like The Biggest looser, America’s Next top model, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and Survivor. Shows like The biggest looser inspires others to lose weight and be healthy. The Fixer Upper show with Chip and Joanna Gaines renovate homes and gives the viewers design recommendations and tips. While reality shows like Chrisley knows Best or Keeping up with the Kardashians are for entertainment only. Reality TV is not Reality.
